How do I place an order?
First you submit the text to be translated or proofread for inspection. Within a few hours you will receive a quotation free of charge. If the price appeals to you, you can place the order with me simply by sending an e-mail or a letter. A written order confirmation is important. As a regular customer you do not need to wait for a quotation every time. Provided it is the same kind of text and the same general conditions apply, you always pay the customary prices.

How long will it take to translate or proofread my text?
This varies considerably, as it depends on the text size, the degree of difficulty and also on the current order situation. I try to carry out each assignment in the shortest possible time. Agreed deadlines are met.

In which format can I submit a text?
You can send me your text as a Word, Excel, PowerPoint or PDF file or simply insert it into an e-mail. Of course I am also pleased to receive orders which are posted to me in hard copy.

What kind of further information does discount translations need to be able to handle an order?
In order to be able to carry out your order to your full satisfaction, details such as the delivery date and intended use of the text to be translated are needed. In addition, it is helpful in some cases to be provided with reference material.

How high are the actual prices?
Translations are calculated per word on the basis of the source text. Proofreading and editing is paid for on an hourly fee basis, the smallest invoicing unit being one half hour. Of course you can also ask me for a fixed price. You do not have to fear any hidden costs. The minimum order value is USD 60.00/GBP 40.00/EUR 50.00 (plus VAT, if applicable).

What characterizes a good translation and a good text revision?
A typical feature of a good translation is that it has the same effect on the reader in the target language as in the source text and that it is not recognizable as a translation. Advertising texts, for example, are not translated word for word but adapted to the cultural background of the target group. This procedure is called "localisation" or "adaptation". When editing, in contrast to proofreading, attention is not only paid to spelling, punctuation and grammar, but also to style and accuracy with regard to the content. If you want to be sure, you should ideally have your text edited.

How is payment effected?
After delivery of your text, you will receive an invoice with a payment term of 14 days. You then have the choice of whether you would like to pay by bank transfer or PayPal. The latter is primarily interesting for customers without a bank account in the EU in order to avoid the fees normally charged. Cheques are not accepted.

What is PayPal?
With PayPal you can pay simply and quickly via the Internet. As soon as you have opened an account at www.paypal.com and linked it to your bank account, you only need to enter the e-mail address of the remittee and the amount when paying - the money is then debited automatically to your account. The beneficiary can see immediately whether payment has been effected. PayPal is particularly practical for foreign transfers because only low fees arise.
