Born in 1977 in Braunschweig (Brunswick), Germany, I always enjoyed learning foreign languages at school. This interest has continued, enabling me to qualify as a State-certified Foreign Language Business Assistant and Correspondent in 2000. In the same year I also passed the examination as a Bilingual secretary for the English language at the Braunschweig Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
After my professional training I started work in the foreign language department of a federal research authority in Braunschweig in 2000. A year later, in 2001, I moved to Sweden, where I was employed as a translator and copywriter in the marketing department of an international company.
In 2003, I returned to Germany and started my own business. Since then I have been working as a translator and proofreader for many renowned companies at home and abroad. In 2004, I became a state-approved translator for the English language by qualifying at the Dortmund Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Germany. This qualification corresponds to the highest level (C2) of the Common European Framework of Reference of the Council of Europe.
Since February 2005 I have been a member of the German Federal Association of Interpreters and Translators (BDÜ) and in September 2009 I also joined the Chartered Institute of Linguists (IoL). These memberships require high standards and professional qualifications.
As it is important to me to keep up-to-date with the developments in this sector and to continue learning, I attend lectures on many occasions.
